Kristi Peltier, Director of Children Youth & Family Ministry
It's funny, I measure how long we’ve been at Discover Church by the number of Vacation Bible Schools we've been a part of. Doing VBS math, that means the Peltier Family has been at Discover Church since 2017. Speaking of family, there are 6 of us including the furry one. My husband Tony, and I have been married since September 2009. We have 3 children. Archer is our oldest, Signe and Aili are our identical twin girls, then there's our dog Leinie, he's been with us for since 2019.
For the 2022-23 school year, I also worked as a paraprofessional at our kid's school. November 30, 2023 was my last day in that role. I'm looking forward to spending time with other adults during the day! You may see me around church a lot more plugging into quilting and the Wednesday morning Bible Study. Outside of work and church, I enjoy large mugs of coffee with friends, crafting, nature, shopping, listening to music, and road trips. Interesting quirk about me, I am a sarcastic, ambidextrous Yooper who happens to be 100% Finnish. Please pray for my husband! (Note: A Yooper is someone who is from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.)
The bible verse that resonates with me the most is Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” I’ve navigated most of my adult life without my parents, they both died young (52, and 58), I was very close with both of them. I was 18 when my Dad died and 28 when my Mom died. My major life milestones, getting married, purchasing a house, and having
children were all done without them. I struggle with depression and anxiety but I lean into “and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” That brings me so much comfort.
I can sum up my job duties at Discover Church in two words…Chaos Coordinator. That’s right I’m in charge of Children’s Ministry! It’s my job to coordinate Sunday School for Preschoolers through 5th graders. I’d like to coordinate more chaos by getting the nursery up and running. I also get the pleasure of planning fun family events like Vacation Bible School, Trunk-or-Treat, and the Christmas Program to name a few. If you have any questions, or ideas, about Children’s Ministry or your wanting to use your gifts and talents to work with the Discover Church
children, you’d come to me. I’d be happy to help you get plugged in!
